How to Make a Papaya Mask, as a Natural Skin Whitener

Papaya contains vitamin C and vitamin A which are good for the skin. The content of vitamin C which is higher than oranges makes papaya is thought to be a natural skin whitener.

Vitamin C contained in a medium papaya weighing 150 grams is as much as 88.3 milligrams or the equivalent of 157% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C, while oranges contain only 69.7 milligrams. In fact, one large papaya can contain 235 mg of vitamin C, more than the amount you need in a day.

Vitamin C which is considered a natural skin whitener can help in the depigmentation process or remove skin pigmentation. This is because vitamin C can reduce melanin formation. But because vitamin C is an unstable compound, it is often combined with other depigmentation agents, such as soybeans and licorice root crops.

In addition, the content of vitamin C can also help in overcoming skin aging. A study showed that women who consumed more vitamin C, had fewer wrinkles, less dry skin, and experienced less skin aging. This could be due to the benefits of vitamin C as an antioxidant that can fight free radicals and help build collagen.

Apart from vitamin C, papaya also contains vitamin A which is good for dealing with wrinkles on the face, acne, and other skin problems, including skin damage due to sun exposure.

Papaya For Brighter Skin

According to some dermatologists, with a variety of vitamin content in it, papaya is thought to be used as a natural skin lightener, toner, and whitener. To get bright skin with papaya treatments, there are several ways you can do the following at home:
  1. Puree one piece of papaya, then squeeze it to take the water. Soak a cotton ball with papaya water, apply it to the face, neck and chest. Let stand for 10 minutes then rinse with cold water until clean.
  2. Mix ¼ cup ripe papaya, ¼ cup honey, 2 teaspoons oatmeal, ¼ cup chocolate, and 2 teaspoons milk until blended. Apply the mixture to your face and let it sit for 10 minutes. Finally, wash your face with warm water until clean.
  3. Mix ¼ cup of mashed papaya with 1 teaspoon of pineapple juice. Then apply to face and neck for 15 to 20 minutes. If your face feels itchy, that's a sign the mask is working. After 20 minutes, rinse your face thoroughly.

Although papaya contains lots of vitamin C and is believed to be good for the skin, more research needs to be done to ensure that papaya is an effective and safe natural skin whitener. Apart from the high content of vitamin C and vitamin A, papaya also contains many other nutrients. For example vitamin E, alpha and beta carotene, vitamins B, calcium, folate, magnesium, potassium, vitamin K, lycopene, fiber, and various other nutrients that are good for body health if consumed regularly.
